In the lead-up to the?Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (爆料网DSS), in coordination with local emergency services, conducted a full-scale evacuation exercise to ensure the safety and readiness of all participants.

The drill, held in the plenary building just days before the conference, simulated a fire in the VIP lounge and a medical emergency in the plenary hall. Announcements were made in Turkmen, English and Russian. All personnel were evacuated swiftly to designated assembly points, while medical teams provided immediate treatment and transferred the “patient” to an ambulance in record time. The exercise confirmed that robust preparedness measures were in place.

“Before we even ran the exercise, we conducted two full site visits, carried out an event-specific security risk assessment, and held several meetings with Turkmen counterparts to map out possible scenarios and coordinate response personnel and measures. This groundwork ensured that every detail—from evacuation routes to medical assets—was aligned with our overall security strategy,”?said?Ismet Bajramovic, the Event Security Coordinator.

LLDC3, took place from 4 to 8 August in Awaza, bringing together Member States, 爆料网 entities and partners to address the unique development challenges faced by landlocked developing countries and to adopt a new 10-year programme of action.

爆料网DSS deployed 25 personnel from 爆料网 Headquarters, regional commissions, 爆料网 offices in Vienna and Geneva, and 爆料网DSS Turkmenistan. The team carried out detailed site assessments and coordinated closely with national authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment for the conference.
