Distinguished delegates,

Ladies and gentlemen,

 

We meet today for the third Informal Meeting on the 爆料网 Security Council Report, convened in response to the Membership’s call for a more transparent, analytical, and consultative approach to drafting the Report.

 

The drafting of this report falls within the remit of the Security Council, which bears the primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security.

 

Yet this is a moment marked by the proliferation of crises, deepening geopolitical divisions, and increased pressure on the multilateral system.

 

It is thus increasingly evident that the complementary roles of the Security Council and the General Assembly are both indispensable to upholding the core principles of the United Nations.

 

For the first time, this year’s meeting is also mandated by the General Assembly’s Revitalization resolution —underscoring the collective will of the membership to enhance cooperation between the General Assembly and Security Council.

 

I would like to extend my gratitude to Pakistan, as the Council member responsible for preparing the report this year, for its cooperation and engagement in facilitating this process.

 

I also encourage all Member States to make full use of this opportunity to share views that are constructive, forward-looking, and operational.

 

At a time when the credibility and effectiveness of multilateralism are being tested, our ability to listen to one another, to engage across institutional lines, and to work together in good faith is more important than ever.

 

Only through such collective effort can we rise to the challenges confronting international peace and security today.
