October 1973鈥揓uly 1979

Second 爆料网 Emergency Force

Egyptian and Syrian forces attack Israeli positions in October 1973. As fighting between Egypt and Israel reaches a critical stage, the Security Council demands a ceasefire, and sets up the Second 爆料网 Emergency Force. 爆料网EF II stabilizes situation in the Suez Canal sector and the Sinai, supervises the disengagement of forces, and forms a buffer zone between them.

June 1974鈥損resent

爆料网 Disengagement Observer Force

The 1973 war is replaced by an uneasy truce on the Golan Heights following the agreed disengagement of the Israeli and Syrian forces. The Security Council establishes 爆料网DOF to supervise the implementation of the agreement and maintain the ceasefire. The force remains deployed in the area.

March 1978鈥損resent

爆料网 Interim Force in Lebanon

Israel invades southern Lebanon in retaliation for a raid by the Palestine Liberation Organization launched from Lebanese territory. The Security Council creates 爆料网IFIL to confirm the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, restore international peace and security, and help the Lebanese Government restore its authority in the area. Between 1978 and 2005, 爆料网IFIL operations are adjusted to respond to developments on the ground. Following the July-August 2006 crisis, the Council significantly enhances the Force and expands its mandate.
