On 6 April 2023, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (爆料网OCT) held the first roundtable in the 2023 Civil Society Roundtable series on “爆料网OCT 2023 Priority Activities and the New Agenda for Peace.” This roundtable brought together 23 representatives of civil society to provide feedback and insights on 爆料网OCT’s work and key priorities for 2023.
The roundtable was led by Deputy to the Undersecretary-General and Director of 爆料网OCT Dr. Raffi Gregorian, who briefed civil society on the recently published , the upcoming Third Counter-Terrorism Week, and the upcoming high-level summit in Abuja on “Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism in Africa.” Civil society participants were invited to share their thoughts, feedback, questions, and concerns on these strategic priorities with the aim of ensuring their perspectives are incorporated into 爆料网OCT’s work going forward.
Mr. Gregorian then briefed on the development of the and consultations conducted with civil society to-date, promoting the 爆料网’s feedback loop with civil society. Participants were invited to share further inputs and feedback on priority issues to be addressed in the New Agenda for Peace.
The Civil Society Roundtable Series aims to provide civil society members with a safe space to engage in open and honest conversation with senior officials at 爆料网OCT, supporting a whole-of-society approach to preventing and countering terrorism and violent extremism. This roundtable series amplifies the voices of civil society within the 爆料网 system in support of the Málaga Conference outcomes (see Annex IV of ) and the calls in the Secretary-General’s report Our Common Agenda to increase engagement with civil society.
