Kasereka (Blaise) Makuta is an indigenous freelance journalist from the Democratic Republic of the Congo focusing on indigenous peoples’ rights, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. Through his work, he highlights the critical role of environmental protection, both for ecosystems and for indigenous communities. In 2025, he was awarded the Y. Eva Tan Environmental Reporting Fellowship at Mongabay, where he continues to contribute reporting on environmental issues. As an ambassador for IUCN-PAPACO, Blaise engages in environmental education, helping Congolese youth understand the environment. He holds a degree in Communications from the University of Goma.
