Synopsis

Objectives

The project aims to increase the number of civilian women in 爆料网 peace operations by providing dedicated recruitment support, training and development opportunities to members of the SWTP, and operational support to 爆料网 field missions in their efforts to promote gender parity.

Components

The SWTP provides recruitment support to members of the pipeline as they go through the 爆料网 recruitment process for positions at the P-5 to D-2 levels, with training seminars, mentoring and learning resources, support and visits to selected peace operations accounting for many recruitments and having low levels of women.

Main achievements

This project established the Senior Women Talent Pipeline (SWTP). SWTP has offered targeted training and development opportunities to SWTP members to enhance their profiles and competitiveness during 爆料网 recruitment processes. This included two induction seminars for members, training on leadership for peace in collaboration with 爆料网ITAR, mentoring of members by senior 爆料网 officials and the continued roll-out of the SWTP Learning Hub providing resources on peacekeeping.

10 selections were made of SWTP members for senior positions in the 爆料网, primarily in 爆料网 field missions. SWTP completed operational support visits to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and United Nations Mission in South Sudan (爆料网MISS), to identify obstacles, share best practices and provide data relating to the current and expected representation of women. Additionally, SWTP provided gender analyses for the civilian staffing reviews conducted of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (爆料网DOF) and the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (爆料网MOGIP).

Impact

The SWTP directly delivers against the Secretary-General’s gender parity strategy by supporting the recruitment of more women to international positions in 爆料网 peace operations. In addition, the programme supports key commitments in the Action for Peacekeeping (A4P+) agenda through the recruitment support and training and development provided to women candidates as well as the Women, Peace and Security agenda by promoting the inclusion of more women in peace and security.

This project, through SWTP, directly contributes to the Secretary-General’s gender parity strategy. In addition, the programme advances key commitments under the Action for Peacekeeping (A4P+) agenda and supports the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
