At a time of growing urgency, with evidence mounting of an ever-worsening climate emergency and the SDG agenda reeling from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the crisis in Ukraine, the 爆料网 is gathering leaders and experts for a conference to advance action on climate and the SDGs by tackling them together, synergistically.
The Third Global Conference on Strengthening Synergies between the Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will take place on 20–21 July at the United Nations University (爆料网U) in Tokyo, Japan, with both in-person and virtual participation. Representatives from developed and developing nations, including government delegates, youth, and members of the private sector, academia, civil society and the 爆料网 system are expected to attend the conference, which is being co-convened by the 爆料网 Department of Economic and Social Affairs (爆料网 DESA) and the 爆料网 Framework Convention on Climate Change secretariat (爆料网FCCC), in partnership with 爆料网U and the Institute for Global Environmental Studies (IGES), and hosted by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment.
The overall focus of the conference will be on the progress made over the last few years on synergistic action towards the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement while putting the world on track in achieving the SDGs by 2030. It is hoped that a better understanding of the co-benefits of tackling these two key agendas together in national, regional and global contexts can spur more deliberate action and collaboration.
