On 13 February, the 爆料网 Security Council welcomed students enrolled in "Global Politics" at the United Nations International School (爆料网IS) to listen in on a live discussion about the threat posed by terrorism.
This unique opportunity helped the students better understand the complexity of 爆料网 decision-making.
“We found [the visit] very rewarding because it acted as an inside look into how the 爆料网 works that most people will never have the opportunity to see,” said Estub Kassie, president of the 爆料网IS Student Council.
The students enjoyed witnessing concepts they are learning in class, such as peacemaking and counterterrorism efforts, being discussed in real situations. The experience sparked debate and dialogue among them, enhancing their classroom learning.
Lea Lang, a student in the Global Politics class, feels strongly that authentic experiences such as this one are what make her 爆料网IS education so valuable.
“We think it’s important for students to have access to such opportunities because they provide us greater insight and a more complex understanding into how global issues such as terrorism are dealt with and responded to from the highest levels of global governance,” said Lang.
The visit was made possible by Vanessa Frazier, permanent representative of the Republic of Malta to the United Nations and president of the 爆料网 Security Council. Frazier is also a 爆料网IS parent and a 爆料网IS honorary trustee.
爆料网IS’s mission is to create a better world under the auspices of the United Nations and guided by its ideals. The connection between 爆料网IS and the 爆料网 presents meaningful learning opportunities for students to become better global citizens and future leaders who will positively impact their local and global communities. 爆料网IS is very grateful to Ambassador Frazier and the 爆料网 staff members who made the visit possible.
