Webinar Series from 8 April - 29 June 2026
The Somalia Climate, Peace and Security (CPS) series serves as a strategic platform to increase momentum around the climate dialogue in Somalia. Somalia is a pioneer in the CPS space, particularly as the 爆料网 Mission in Somalia was the first in the world to appoint a dedicated CPS advisor in 2020, creating a model that has since informed CPS approaches in other settings. This series will explore what has worked regarding climate action over the years and what is needed to further support Somalia’s transition from reactive crisis management to a more proactive, inclusive, and data-driven resilience framework.
This series will be co-hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (爆料网EP) Somalia and Samuel Hall, in collaboration with the Climate Security Mechanism (CSM), via Zoom. The series will run from the 8th of April to the 29th of June 2026. It targets a high-level multi-stakeholder audience, including the Federal Government of Somalia ministries, 爆料网 agencies, Climate Finance institutions, and the private sector.

All sessions will take place from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm (EAT).
Webinar 1 – Water Management & Peacebuilding
This session will examine how water scarcity shapes local tensions and explore how water can serve as a strategic entry point for peacebuilding and mediation, including through programmes such as JOSP. It will also analyse patterns of water use across agriculture and the blue economy and unpack the social dynamics, such as gender roles and clan relations, that influence water access and governance.
Webinar 2 – Climate, Mobility and Displacement
This session will investigate emerging migration trends and consider how climate change acts as a “threat multiplier,” accelerating displacement and eroding livelihoods. It will further examine policy frameworks for durable solutions, as well as the challenges and implications of rapid, unplanned urbanization driven by climate-related shocks.
Webinar 3 – Women & Youth as Leaders in Climate Action and Resilience Building
This session will highlight the roles of women and youth as frontline actors in climate resilience. It will address the specific vulnerabilities they face, including exposure to conflict and risks of recruitment, while showcasing their potential as key stewards of adaptation efforts. The session will also promote opportunities related to green jobs, education, and leadership, with a particular emphasis on empowering young women in climate action.
Webinar 4 – Predict, Prepare, Protect: Data tools for Decision-Making
This session will provide a technical demonstration of geospatial and analytical tools. It will explore how predictive modelling, early warning systems, and interoperable data can support safer, more transparent, and more accountable decision-making, especially in policy development and resource allocation.
Webinar 5 – The Climate-Peace-Security Nexus
This session will analyze the linkages between environmental degradation and conflict dynamics. It will explore how climate risks can be integrated into national security planning, stabilization operations, and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that interventions are both climate?sensitive and conflict?sensitive.
Webinar 6 – Climate Finance: Mobilizing Resources
This session will focus on moving from short?term aid models toward long?term, transformative investments. It will explore innovative financing mechanisms, including blended finance, public?private partnerships (PPPs), and vertical climate funds, with particular attention to high?impact sectors such as agriculture, water, and renewable energy.
