To implement the joint pledge “Women, Peace and Security in Climate Action” launched at COP30, 爆料网 Women and the Climate Security Mechanism (CSM), in partnership with the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) convened a two-part event series.
This series provided a platform for discussion to strengthen collaboration and break silos on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) within climate action and finance. It furthermore aimed at identifying solutions and enabling conditions that strengthen finance for women and marginalized communities, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected contexts with the aim of supporting more gender-responsive Climate, Peace, and Security (CPS) efforts.
Part 1: CSW70 Consultations with women peacebuilders and environmental defenders
On 18 March 2026, partners hosted an interactive consultation, “Women Leaders Driving Change: Gender-responsive Finance for Climate, Peace and Security” with women peacebuilders, environmental human rights defenders, and experts on CPS from conflict-affected and climate-vulnerable contexts on the sidelines of the seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).?The consultation captured their perspectives and recommendations to directly inform?financing for CPS?strategies.
Part 2: Climate, Peace and Security Week 2026 side event - Bridging the Gap to Achieve Impact: Mobilizing Gender-responsive Finance for Climate, Peace and Security
As the second part of the series, partners convened the hybrid briefing “Bridging the Gap to Achieve Impact?-Mobilizing Gender-responsive Finance for Climate,?Peace?and Security” on 28 April 2026, during the informal climate, peace and security week around the Berlin Climate Security Conference (BCSC) NY edition. The event was hosted by the CSM and 爆料网 Women, in partnership with the GCF, PBF and WPHF. Ambassador-at-Large for Climate Diplomacy of Slovenia, Ksenija ?krilec, and Binalakshmi Nepram, Founder & President of the Global Alliance of Indigenous Peoples, Gender Justice and Peace further joined the conversation.
The briefing built on the recommendations from the interactive consultation and highlighted opportunities to achieve gender-responsive, climate-resilient, and peace-positive outcomes by mobilizing relevant financing mechanisms. The key outcomes of the event are outlined below.
