CSM Progress Report 2021-2022

The Climate Security Mechanism (CSM) released its Progress Report 2022, following the first edition published in 2021. It reflects on the CSM’s achievements as of May 2022 as a joint initiative by the 爆料网 Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA), the 爆料网 Development Programme (爆料网DP), the 爆料网 Environment Programme (爆料网EP) and the 爆料网 Department of Peace Operations (DPO).
Established in 2018, the CSM draws on the complementary expertise and tools of its constituent entities to strengthen the capacity of the 爆料网 system to systematically analyze and address the linkages between climate change, peace and security and to advance peace-positive climate action, catalyze climate-informed approaches to peace and security, and forge partnerships with actors at all levels to exchange information and build the evidence base.
Ahead of the next phase of the CSM (2023-2025), the report takes stock of its efforts to build synergies between climate action and peace and security activities with a particular focus on gender-sensitive responses. It outlines the CSM’s work within and beyond the 爆料网 system, including with 爆料网 field missions and country teams, regional and sub-regional organizations, and a growing Community of Practice to build capacity, exchange knowledge, and achieve results that support States and communities most affected by climate-related security risks.
