They should not be attacked or used for military purposes.

Meanwhile, the ±¬ÁÏÍø and its humanitarian partners in Gaza continue preparing for the rainy season. Over the weekend, municipalities in Gaza informed humanitarian partners that they had mapped the needs related to flooding risks in hundreds of locations across the Strip. These needs involve clearing drainage, removing debris and solid waste, levelling sites, ensuring pumps are ready and prepositioning equipment.

However, humanitarian partners warn that efforts to support people ahead of the winter are constrained by insufficient funding, limits on the approval and volume of items entering Gaza, and shortages of engine oil, spare parts and heavy machinery.

Efforts are also constrained because most of Gaza’s land remains inaccessible, including areas that are less vulnerable to flooding and could be used to set up tents.

West Bank: settler-related violence causes injuries, property damage

Humanitarian partners in the West Bank say that settler-related violence continued over the weekend, with incidents involving theft, arson, vandalism, attacks and confrontations in multiple areas, resulting in injuries and property damage.

On Saturday, Israeli settlers stoned a house in Qusra village, less than half a kilometre away from where three families have been isolated following the establishment of a new settlement outpost three weeks ago.

In Al Mughayyir area of Ramallah, humanitarian partners have reported three consecutive days of attacks by settlers escorted by Israeli forces. Here alone, attacks have injured nearly a dozen Palestinians and sometimes prevented the movement of people and vehicles – including ambulances – in and out. Herders’ sheep were killed or forcibly taken, affecting people’s livelihoods.

31 August 2026 OCHA remains concerned about the impact on civilians of continued Israeli air strikes and other military attacks over the weekend in Gaza.
