OCHA reports that\u00a0last night, an\u00a0Israeli air strike hit\u00a0a residential area\u00a0less than\u00a0600 feet \u2013 or less than 200 metres \u2013 from\u00a0five humanitarian facilities\u00a0in Deir\u00a0al Balah, luckily\u00a0with no casualties reported.<\/p>\n
This followed\u00a0an order from the\u00a0Israeli\u00a0military to shelter\u00a0in place\u00a0shortly\u00a0before the\u00a0strike.\u00a0No staff members were injured,\u00a0and the teams are currently assessing the\u00a0damage.<\/p>\n
OCHA reiterates that\u00a0civilians, including\u00a0humanitarians,\u00a0must be protected.\u00a0Humanitarian facilities and other civilian infrastructure must not be targeted.<\/p>\n
Since\u00a0Sunday,\u00a0Kerem Shalom\u00a0has been the only operational entry point for humanitarian and commercial goods into Gaza,\u00a0as\u00a0Zikim has been closed.<\/p>\n
OCHA continues to call for more crossings to open and for more critical\u00a0supplies\u00a0and\u00a0assistance\u00a0to be let in.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, between 11 and 17 May, partners working on protection have provided mental health and psychosocial support, as well as other\u202fprotection services,\u202fto more than 10,000 people, half of them children and caregivers.<\/p>\n
Services\u00a0included\u00a0recreational activities, art and drama\u00a0sessions, counselling and parenting support\u00a0and was provided\u00a0in\u00a0shelters, camps,\u00a0schools\u00a0and displacement sites\u00a0across Gaza.<\/p>\n
Partners reiterate that to continue these services \u2013 particularly for children and adolescents \u2013 fuel, safe spaces, staff and other basic resources are needed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
