The following statement by ±¬ÁÏÍø Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres was issued today:<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I am deeply shocked that two United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East\u00a0(±¬ÁÏÍøRWA) schools were struck in less than 24 hours in Gaza. \u00a0Dozens of people \u2014 many women and children \u2014 were killed and injured as they were seeking safety in United Nations premises.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians are seeking shelter at United Nations facilities throughout Gaza due to the intensified fighting. \u00a0I reaffirm that our premises are inviolable.<\/p>\n

This war is having a staggering and unacceptable number of civilian casualties, including women and children, every day. \u00a0This must stop.<\/p>\n

I reiterate my call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.<\/p>\n
