\t<\/span>The Chairman of the Security Council Truce Commission instructs me to transmit the following message to you:<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>"Jerusalem, 21 May<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

\t<\/span>The night from 20 to 21 May was relatively quiet apart from some shelling, mortar fire and machinegunning; the Jews are reported to have repulsed an Arab attack on their lines in the Old City.  This morning there was less shelling which seemed to be confined to the northern quarter of the City; unknown fighter aeroplanes, which the Jews claim to be theirs, flew over Jerusalem yesterday afternoon and went off in an easterly direction.  It seems that in the suburbs of the City there was a collision between the Arab  Legion and the Jews which was indecisive.<\/p><\/div>\n
