\nKidnapped Staff Safely Released<\/u><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

August 8, 2005 – This morning, at 11:50am, a militant group kidnapped three United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (±¬ÁÏÍøRWA) staff members, one British national, one Swiss national and one Palestinian, in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.<\/p><\/div>\n

Following negotiations, the staff members were released into ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA and Palestinian Authority Preventive Security custody.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The staff members have now returned safely to ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA headquarters in Gaza City. Access through Abu Houli checkpoint, which was closed, was provided by the Israeli Defense Forces.<\/p><\/div>\n
