±¬ÁÏÍø TEAM SET UP TO INVESTIGATE LATR±¬ÁÏÍø INCIDENT<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

(The following has been received at ±¬ÁÏÍø Headquarters from the ±¬ÁÏÍø Press Office at Haifa.)<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>The Central Truce Supervision Board met at Haifa today (14 August) and studied preliminary reports regarding the Latrun pumping station incident.  The Board decided to set up an investigation team of three persons which was charged to further scrutinize this case.  The investigation team will be given several concrete questions to answer.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>It was announced in Haifa today that the last contingent of French observers is scheduled to arrive at Damascus today.  This would bring the total of French observers to the requested 125.  The Belgian observer contingent is now complete with 50 men.  It is expected that the U.S. observer contingent of 125 will be completed before 20 August.<\/p><\/div>\n

\t<\/span>It is also reported that United Nations observers have been able to fix a total of approximately 245 kilometers of truce lines on several fronts.  Of these 245 kilometers, 162 kilometers were agreed upon by both sides and 83 kilometers established independently by the observers.  Most fixed lines are on the Lebanese-Galilee, Syrian and North Transjordan fronts.  There are 266 kilometers of truce lines still unfixed and those are being negotiated.  They are situated principally to the southwest of Jerusalem and in the Gaza area.<\/p><\/div>\n
