Switzerland pledges additional CHF 2 million for Palestine refugees<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\nGeneva, June 8, 2004 – <\/strong>Switzerland has pledged an additional CHF 2 million in aid to Palestine refugees in Jordan and Gaza following an urgent appeal by ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA at an ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA conference on Palestine refugees held in Geneva on 7-8 June. The Swiss allocation brings to CHF 19.6 million the funds committed by the SDC to ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA this year. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Switzerland, which has been involved from the beginning in strengthening the process of providing support to Palestine refugees, expressed its satisfaction with the outcome of the conference, adding that it is prepared to make further contributions to ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA this year, particularly to enable the Organisation to fine-tune its management techniques and to enhance their effectiveness. <\/p><\/div>\n
