Fifth meeting of the Joint ±¬ÁÏÍøESCO\/Palestinian Authority Committee<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

\n19-05-2003 2:00 pm Paris –<\/strong> The Fifth Meeting of the Joint ±¬ÁÏÍøESCO\/Palestinian Authority Committee will be held at ±¬ÁÏÍøESCO Headquarters on May 22-23 to take stock of the situation in the Palestinian Territories and to prepare a preliminary strategy and Plan of Action based on careful examination of the current needs of the Palestinian people. The Palestinian Authority Delegation to the meeting will be headed by the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Naim Abu Hommos. <\/p><\/div>\n

The Joint ±¬ÁÏÍøESCO\/Palestinian Authority Committee was created in 1993 to encourage and enhance the peace-building process then underway, and, in particular, to provide support for the development of education, institution building, human resources, employment generation and culture. Its first meeting was held in April 1994. Its last meeting took place in April 2000. <\/p><\/div>\n

Journalists will be able to attend the opening session on the morning of May 22nd, provided they are accredited by ±¬ÁÏÍøESCO's Press Service. <\/p><\/div>\n
