Memorandum of Understanding ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA-PCBS<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

On Tuesday 7 August 2007, in Ramallah, Dr Luay Shabaneh, President of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), and Filippo Grandi, ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This agreement is a milestone in cooperation with a national statistical agency that provides crucial data and information in two important fields of ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA operations. The MOU will afford ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA access to specially-designed data bases covering economic and social conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip with special focus on refugees. Such data has already proved valuable in ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA’s capacity to comprehend, analyze and explain conditions in the oPt.<\/p><\/div>\n

The data provided under the new MOU will allow PCBS to produce better, more accurate national statistics that reflect the economic and social effects of ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA operations in the West Bank and Gaza. ±¬ÁÏÍøRWA is looking to strengthen its cooperation with PCBS in the oPt with the objective of improving capacity for long-term and emergency planning through ensuring access to high-quality, relevant and timely data on the socio-economic and humanitarian conditions of refugees.<\/p><\/div>\n
