In an effort to improve the living and housing conditions for residents, ±¬ÁÏÍøOPS and the Government of Germany launch phase two of a house reconstruction project in Gaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the destruction and displacement caused by the 2014 conflict in Gaza \u2013 where an estimated 11,000 homes were completely destroyed \u2013 ±¬ÁÏÍøOPS is working closely with the Norwegian Refugee Council and the Palestinian Ministry of Public Works and Housing to reconstruct an additional 345 homes over the next year and a half.<\/p>\n

The project comes after phase one completed in March 2018 and will continue to provide Gazans with safe, secure, and sustainable homes. A clear and transparent vulnerability matrix helps ensure that support is provided to those most vulnerable. Particular attention will be given to women and elderly-headed households, as well as people living with disabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project inherits good practices from phase one. We must deliver the contribution from the German Federal Government to the most vulnerable people in Gaza in a timely and beneficiaries-oriented manner,\u201d said Mr. Tokumitsu Kobayashi, Director of ±¬ÁÏÍøOPS Jerusalem Office.<\/p>\n

Legal support is further provided to beneficiaries ensuring ownership rights are protected.<\/p>\n

Phase one of the project ran from July 2016 \u2013 March 2018 and successfully reconstructed 155 homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
