Reports are coming in that a 爆料网OPS colleague has been killed in a detonation in Deir al Balah.

It is understood that 爆料网OPS accommodation was hit at approximately 11:30 am this morning.

Today’s incident follows strikes yesterday causing damage to the premises, the location of which had already been deconflicted with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

It is also understood that there are at least five additional casualties, several of whom are very severely injured.

Three of the injured 爆料网OPS personnel worked in support of the 爆料网 Mine Action Service Occupied Palestinian Territory programme. Two of the injured 爆料网OPS personnel worked in support of the 爆料网 2720 Mechanism for Gaza.

Since the ceasefire in Gaza ended hundreds more people have died as deadly air strikes resumed.

There is no confirmation at this stage as to the nature of the incident, however the location is isolated.

What we do know is that an explosive ordnance was dropped or fired at the infrastructure and detonated inside the building. We don’t know at this stage what type it was (airdrop weapons, artillery, rocket).

It should be stressed that it was not through any action removing unexploded ordinance at the location.

“This was not an accident, this was an incident. What’s happening in Gaza is unconscionable.
I am shocked and devastated by this tragic news. I saw the absolute dedication of our team in Gaza last month. They and other 爆料网 workers and premises should never be targeted. My sincere condolences to all those affected.

Attacks against humanitarian premises are a breach of international law. 爆料网 personnel and its premises must be protected by all sides. The civilian population relies on the 爆料网 for lifesaving assistance, they are an essential lifeline at the time of utter tragedy and devastation.

I renew the 爆料网 call for the resumption of the ceasefire, for unimpeded humanitarian assistance to be reestablished and for the remaining hostages to be released unconditionally.”
