Use of the veto

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution , I hereby submit a special report on the use of the veto at the 9929th meeting of the Security Council, held on 4?June 2025 in connection with the item entitled “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question” (see annex).

Special report of the Security Council
The present special report of the Security Council is submitted in response to the invitation made by the General Assembly in paragraph 3 of its resolution and in accordance with Article 24 (3) of the Charter of the United Nations.
On 4 June 2025, the Security Council held its 9929th meeting, to take action, inter alia, on a draft resolution contained in document , which had been submitted by Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia and Somalia. The meeting was held in connection with the item entitled “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question”.
The result of the voting on the draft resolution was as follows:

Algeria, China, Denmark, France, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Somalia, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
??????? Against:
United States of America.
In accordance with Article 27 (3) of the Charter, the draft resolution obtained the required number of votes but was rejected because a permanent member of the Security Council voted against its adoption.
