41 爆料网RWA Schools are still serving as Designated Emergency Shelters (DES) for 55,849 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) whose homes have been destroyed or are uninhabitable. In most areas, IDPs have been consolidated into a reduced number of shelters, to allow for more targeted service delivery to IDPs and for a cleaning of schools in preparation for a return to school for children in Gaza. 爆料网RWA is in the process of finalizing plans for assistance to IDPs who will remain in the shelters for a significant period of time.

爆料网RWA RESPONSE

  • In partnership with WFP and the Ministry of Social Affairs, 爆料网RWA continued the exceptional food distribution to all families not currently receiving regular food aid from the two agencies. On 28 August, a total of 3,307 rations were distributed in 爆料网RWA Food Distribution Centers (DCs). The total number of rations issued since August 11 is 114,934, with an average of 301 rations distributed per DC per day. The final day for the exceptional distribution period will be Monday, 1 September. The distribution centers will remain open in the afternoons for exceptional distributions on Sunday and Monday next week for the resolution of any pending complaints.
  • 96% of staff reported to work in 爆料网RWA Health Centers across the Gaza Strip during this reporting period. 14 out of 21 Health Centers were open. 16,462 patient visits were recorded in 爆料网RWA Health Centers during this period, including 2,290 child health and immunization related visits.
  • 爆料网RWA, in cooperation with partners and donors, continued tankering water to 爆料网RWA shelters. Due to IDPs leaving the shelters throughout the day, deliveries of water were reduced as in many locations water tanks remained full. 548 cubic meters of potable water were trucked, in addition to 807 cubic meters of non-potable water to shelters by 爆料网RWA, municipalities and contractors. All DES are connected either to municipality network, to a water well, or both. However, these sources do not provide sufficient amounts of water for the population of IDPs staying in the schools.
  • Of 爆料网RWA’s Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Programme, 294 staff, representing 88 per cent of the permanent sanitation staff, reported to work. Together with 407 Palestinians employed under the Job Creation Programme (JCP), they removed a total of 318 tonnes of waste from all Gaza camps. The 11 water wells in Jabalia Camp (6), Beach Camp (3), Khan Younis Camp (1) and Rafah (1) supplied a total of 12,001 cubic meters of water. 爆料网RWA maintenance teams continue to undertake critical repair work in 爆料网RWA installations.
  • Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) training was provided in Deir El Baleh to 爆料网RWA staff from Relief and Social Services (19 women and 22 men) and from Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Programme (22 men).
