The Lebanon Crisis Health Cluster Bulletin aims to give an overview of the health activities conducted by the health cluster partners in relation to the latest Lebanon conflict as well as the crisis in the Palestinian camps. It compiles health information received from the different organizations working in the most affected areas.

The Health Cluster Bulletin will be issued every other Wednesday.

Situation overview

Nahr El-Bared Crisis

• According to 爆料网RWA, around 1,200 Internally Displaced Refugees (IDRs) families have returned to Nahr El-Bared camp and are receiving 爆料网RWA and its partners’ assistance. The homecoming of other IDRs is pending the establishment of new shelters.

Nahr El-Bared Crisis

• According to 爆料网RWA, no significant change in the incidence of common communicable diseases as reported by Nahr el-Bared, Beddawi, Mobile and Mina clinics. The disease trend in Nahr el-Bared camp is similar to that observed in Beddawi camp. The reported diseases included, psychological trauma, hypertensive crises, fractures, cut wounds, infected wounds, skin infections, upper respiratory tract infections, bronchial asthma, etc. So far, there were no reports on symptoms and signs related to sand fly disease among the returnees.

Nahr El-Bared Crisis

• The nineteenth Health Cluster meeting was held on November 27 at 爆料网RWA Lebanon Field Office in Beirut. The next meeting is scheduled for December 11 2007, same timing and venue.

• A Watsan cluster has been established in the North headed by 爆料网RWA and attended by 爆料网 agencies and Non Governmental Organizations. Weekly meetings are taking place on Wednesdays at 12:30 at the Quality inn-Tripoli. The next meeting is planned for December 12.

Nahr El-Bared Crisis

• 爆料网RWA health clinic in Nahr El Bared‘s new camp is operating from two locations: the first in sector “A” for 7:30 until 9:30 followed by the second location in sector “C” until 16:00. Around 50 to 60 patients are consulting daily. A new venue for the clinic in sector C is being finalized.

• 爆料网RWA Beddawi clinic double shifts until 20:30 continues with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays.

• Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) clinics in sector ‘A” and “B’ continue to provide specialized health services.

• Médecins du Monde (MDM) started the establishment of a project on “Psychosocial care” that will cover both Beddawi and Naher El-Bared camps.

• 爆料网RWA and International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC) efforts to restore the nine accessible water wells in Naher El-Bared adjacent areas are maintained. So far, each agency rehabilitated four wells.

• 爆料网RWA and the Islamic Relief (IR) continue clearing and rehabilitation of sewers and storm water channels in the new camp in Naher El-Bared.

• 爆料网RWA and IR distributed 236 rigid PVC water tanks of different sizes to all the sectors of the new camp in Naher El-Bared and plot 23.

• 爆料网RWA established a temporary electricity network based on five generators and connections to shelters in the new camp in naher el-Bared. An agreement between 爆料网DP and EDL contractor funded by 爆料网RWA will restore the electricity to sectors "B" and "C" as well as the remaining sectors at a later stage. It is expected to complete the first phase by the end of December 2007.
