The event included film screenings, conferences and music. Among the participants were: Fida Qishta, journalist and filmmaker from Gaza; Mark Braverman, author of \u201cA Wall in Jerusalem\u201d; Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb of the<a href=\"https:\/\/jewishvoiceforpeace.org\/\">\u00a0Rabbinic Council of Jewish Voice for Peace<\/a>; and Barbara Lubin, co-founder and executive director of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mecaforpeace.org\/\">Middle East Children\u2019s Alliance<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>On 19 October, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbia.edu\/cu\/palestine\/\">Center for Palestine Studies<\/a>, Columbia University held the event \u201cSuad Amiry and Susan Abulhawa: In Conversation\u201d in New York City. The Palestinian architect and author Suad Amiry and Palestinian-American writer and human rights activist Susan Abulhawa discussed their newly published books within a broader conversation around contemporary Palestinian literature. The discussion was moderated by Rashid Khalidi,\u00a0Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies, Columbia University.<\/li>\n<li>On 23 October the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mecaforpeace.org\/\">Middle East Children\u2019s Alliance<\/a>\u00a0will hold an event entitled\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mecaforpeace.org\/events\/oakland-ca-room-number-4-israeli-arrests-palestinian-children-%E2%80%93-silwan-east-jerusalem\">\u201cRoom Number 4: Israeli Arrests of Palestinian children \u2013 Silwan, East Jerusalem\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in Oakland, California (USA).The event includes a photo exhibition and a presentation by Sahar Abbasi Baidon, Deputy Director of Madaa Silwan Creative Center where she works with children who have been arrested.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Europe<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On 14 October, the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tcd.ie\/ise\" target=\"_blank\">Irish School of Ecumenics<\/a>\u00a0in association with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.academicsforpalestine.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Academics for Palestine<\/a>\u00a0held the discussion \u201cAcademic voices from Palestine: Education under occupation\u201d presented by Dr. Iain Atack, Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College, Dublin (Ireland) and with the participation of Dr. Ayman Shaheen, Political Science professor at Al Azhar University, Gaza; Dr. Yaser Al Ashqar, Irish School of Ecumenics, Trinity College; Malaka Mohammed,\u00a0Member of the National Executive Committee of the National Union of Students in the UK; and Suha Shaheen, Lecturer at Al Quds Open University, Gaza.<\/li>\n<li>On 26 October the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign will present Prof. Jeff Halper\u2019s new book\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipsc.ie\/event\/dublin-jeff-halper-book-launch-war-against-the-people-israel-the-palestinians-and-global-pacification-ipsc\">\u201cWar against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification\u201d in Dublin.<\/a>The Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Jeff Halper has spent nearly 20 years as head of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/icahd.org\/\">Israeli Committee against House Demolitions<\/a>\u00a0.
