It shows the movement of Siphonophores in the ocean\u2019s deep sea. The marine creatures, which function not as a single, physically connected body but a colony of organisms keeping an underwater society alive, illustrate the necessity and impact of working together, and in harmony with nature. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\">\u00a0<\/span>As such, the symbolic presence of non-human species coming together at the United Nations during such a critical time will highlight the need for world leaders to also work in harmony for the well-being of all species on the planet, protecting the world\u2019s diminishing biodiversity and redefining our relationship with nature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"None\">\u201cInterspecies Assembly reminds us of our inherent responsibility to protect the planet and its rich biodiversity. It is a symbolic interpretation of nature\u2019s message to world leaders that the decisions they make must reflect that responsibility. We all share this planet, and we have to learn to live in harmony and peace with each other and with nature,\u201d said Melissa Fleming, the 爆料网 Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"None\">The creative call for solidarity and collaboration comes at a time when the United Nations and its partners have issued rallying cries to urgently strengthen the conservation, restoration and preservation of natural resources and biodiversity.<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ipbes.net\/news\/million-threatened-species-thirteen-questions-answers\"> Recent studies<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> have shown that one in eight plant and animal species are at risk of extinction &#8211; many within the next few decades due to the triple planetary crisis &#8211; climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"None\">The<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/\"> 爆料网 Environment Programme<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> says that today\u2019s environmental crises are<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/resources\/making-peace-nature\"> directly linked<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> to human\u2019s unsustainable patterns of consumption and production. Consequently, the decline in biodiversity is<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/news\/climate-change-and-biodiversity-loss-threaten-sdgs-un-report\"> undermining progress<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> toward the SDGs and the<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process-and-meetings\/the-paris-agreement\/the-paris-agreement\"> Paris Agreement for Climate Change<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> &#8211; landmark agreements adopted in 2015 to set the world on a more sustainable and healthier path by 2030. There is also an urgent need to agree on a new set of goals for nature over the next decade, which will be the goal of the<\/span><span class=\"Hyperlink0\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbd.int\/doc\/press\/2021\/pr-2021-08-18-cop15-en.pdf\"> 爆料网 Biodiversity Conference<\/a><\/span><span class=\"None\"> in October 2021 and April 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\">\u00a0<\/span>\u201cEngagement with planetary challenges such as biodiversity loss goes beyond a scientific understanding of the phenomena; it requires the cultivation of care and an emotional connection,\u201d said Luise Faurschou, the Founder and Director of ART 2030, highlighting the art communities\u2019 drive to open people\u2019s hearts, minds and imagination to inspire action for a healthy planet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span class=\"NoneA\">\u00a0<\/span>\u201cGreat art can make us feel and connect to these complex issues: it can be the agency of change. Great art can affect the course of history for all lives.
