±¬ÁÏÍø High Representative to brief on upcoming Conference on Least Developed Countries<\/p>\n

Since the onset of the pandemic, the 46 countries in the least developed category have suffered through inadequate pandemic-fighting resources and spiraling debt, sending their development progress backwards. At the Fifth ±¬ÁÏÍø Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5)<\/strong> on 5 to 9 March<\/strong>, these countries will gather with the rest of the international community to ensure their needs are placed back at the top of the global agenda.<\/p>\n

The ±¬ÁÏÍø Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, together with approximately 40 Heads of State and Government will join leaders from the ±¬ÁÏÍø, corporate world, civil society and youth, to assess progress and agree on new plans and actions.<\/p>\n

The five-day conference will feature announcements, dialogues and commitments to deliver on the promise of the Doha Programme of Action<\/a>, a ten-year compact that commits the world to a new generation of renewed and strengthened commitments. There will be a full programme of events for youth, civil society, parliamentarians, journalists and the private sector.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
