{"id":102436,"date":"2022-02-02T11:44:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/?p=102436"},"modified":"2022-02-02T11:46:20","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:46:20","slug":"un-to-scale-up-efforts-for-global-goals-and-a-resilient-covid-19-recovery-at-inaugural-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/blog\/2022\/02\/un-to-scale-up-efforts-for-global-goals-and-a-resilient-covid-19-recovery-at-inaugural-event\/","title":{"rendered":"±¬ÁÏÍø to scale up efforts for global goals and a resilient COVID-19 recovery at inaugural event"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>±¬ÁÏÍø to scale up efforts for global goals and a resilient COVID-19 recovery at inaugural event<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT: United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Coordination Segment <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>More than two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations will come together to mobilize action for a resilient recovery guided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/\">the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>at the inaugural ±¬ÁÏÍø ECOSOC Coordination Segment.<\/p>\n<p>The Coordination Segment will address the main annual theme -\u201cBuilding back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u201d &#8211; and provide guidance towards the high-level segment of ECOSOC and the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July.<\/p>\n<p>The Coordination Segment will focus on the following priority areas to accelerate action towards the SDGs: equitable global access to vaccines; basic universal health coverage; universal social protection; new food systems that reduce poverty and hunger; reversing deforestation, biodiversity loss and pollution; sustainable and inclusive growth paths; women\u2019s empowerment; transparent and accountable institutions; an inclusive digital transformation; and a stronger focus on the most vulnerable.
