Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed visit to Beirut (13-16 March 2022)

“Achieving the SDGs was never going to be easy. But it is possible.”

The Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, concluded her mission to Lebanon, where she participated in the 8th edition of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development. Organized in partnership with the League of Arab States and 16 regional entities on the theme “Recovery and Resilience”, the Forum was inaugurated by the Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan, Nasser Shraideh, as Chair of the Forum and the Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Rola Dashti.

In her inaugural remarks, the Deputy Secretary-General stressed that achieving the SDGs would require investing in people, especially women and youth; recovering the huge learning losses of the pandemic and reinventing the future of education; supercharging just, green transitions; and adopting a different approach to transitions from crisis and post-crisis settings.
