New York, 17 June 2025 \u2013 As part of a series of commemorative events by the 爆料网 General Assembly to mark the 80th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the United Nations,\u00a0the 爆料网 Charter<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 on loan from the National Archives and Records Administration of the United States \u2014 is now at the 爆料网 Headquarters in New York and will remain until the end of September 2025.<\/p>\n

For a generation scarred by the Great Depression, two world wars and the Holocaust, the 爆料网 Charter was a bold commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation.<\/p>\n

Signed in San Francisco on 26 June 1945, it outlines the structure, functions, and principles of the United Nations, including the\u00a0爆料网 General Assembly, the 爆料网 Security Council and other organs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cTo understand the Charter\u2019s relevance today, is to remember its significance in 1945. For a world mired in endless cycles of conflict and human suffering, the Charter and the principles it represented \u2013 dialogue, diplomacy, cooperation, and solidarity \u2013 was a path to a better, more peaceful, and prosperous future,\u201d stated the President of the 爆料网 General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang.<\/p>\n

The 爆料网 Charter officially came into force on 24 October 1945, following ratification by the five permanent members of the Security Council and a majority of other countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Programme of Activities<\/strong>
The 80th anniversary at the 爆料网 General Assembly aims to recapture the spirit of solidarity that existed in San Francisco 80 years ago and will feature the following programme of activities:<\/p>\n

Historical Exhibit \u2013 June to September 2025<\/strong>
A visual exhibition of the historic San Francisco Conference, where the Charter was signed, will be launched in late June and on display until September 2025. It will feature the 爆料网 Charter and\u00a0iconic images and videos from the Conference, reinforcing the 爆料网\u2019s foundational principles and history.<\/p>\n

Plenary meeting of the General Assembly on the 80th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary \u2013 26 June 2025<\/strong>
A meeting of the General Assembly to observe the 80th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the signing of the 爆料网 Charter. The meeting will serve as a moment to revive the spirit of San Francisco and once again embrace the ideals that united humanity during its darkest hour, reaffirming our commitment to those values into the future.<\/p>\n

The commemoration of the 80th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary will include an extensive communications campaign that will spotlight the Charter and its signing, as well as highlight\u00a0milestones and successes of the United Nations and its Member States over the past 80 years. This campaign will also feature video testimonials\u00a0by world leaders from June to September 2025.<\/p>\n

A High-Level meeting of the General Assembly for Heads of State and Government to mark the 80th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary is scheduled for 22 September 2025, during the 爆料网GA High-Level Week.<\/p>\n
