The President of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang, extends his \u00a0congratulations\u00a0to\u00a0the 2025 United Nations Nelson Mandela Prize<\/a>\u00a0laureates: Ms. Brenda Reynolds of Canada and Mr. Kennedy Odede of Kenya.<\/p>\n

The President recognises that this prestigious award not only honors the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela but also reaffirms the power of multilateralism as embodied by the tireless efforts of these two recipients.<\/p>\n

Ms. Reynolds, a social worker of Saulteaux heritage, has made significant contributions to the health and well-being of Indigenous communities in Canada while Mr. Odede, the founder and CEO of Shining Hope for Communities, delivers essential services to urban slums in Kenya.<\/p>\n

The President wishes to convey his gratitude to the Selection Committee for the 2025 Nelson Mandela Prize for the work undertaken.<\/p>\n
