President of the 爆料网 General Assembly to undertake official travel to Addis Ababa and Nairobi
New York, 13 February 2025–The President of the 爆料网 General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang, will undertake an official visit to Ethiopia and Kenya from 14 to 22 February 2025 where he will seek to enhance multilateral cooperation with both countries on an array of issues, including peace and security and the Pact for the Future.
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (14-18 February 2025)
The President will attend the opening ceremony of the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly to be held on 15-16 February 2025 in Addis Ababa under the theme, “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice and the Payment of Reparations to Africans”.
He will hold bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Taye Atske Selassie, President of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia during his visit.
He will also hold several bilateral meetings, including with H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, outgoing Chair of the African Union Commission. Additionally, he is expected to meet with Mr. Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of the 爆料网 Economic Commission for Africa (爆料网ECA) and Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, 爆料网 Resident Coordinator, to discuss the work of the 爆料网 System in Africa.
Nairobi, Kenya (18-22 February 2025)
In Kenya, President Yang will meet with H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and H.E. Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, among others.
President Yang will hold several bilateral meetings, including with Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, Under-Secretary-General and Director General of 爆料网 Office in Nairobi, Ms. Inger Andersen, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (爆料网EP), as well as senior officials of 爆料网-Habitat in Nairobi.
The President will also meet the United Nations Country Team, led by the 爆料网 Resident Coordinator in Nairobi, to learn more about the work of the 爆料网 System on the ground and its collaboration with the Government of Kenya.
The costs of the visit are borne by the Government of Kenya and the OPGA Trust Fund.
