It is\u00a0a\u00a0great privilege\u00a0to\u00a0be here\u00a0today\u00a0\u2013\u00a0amidst\u00a0the majestic surroundings of Dushanbe\u00a0\u2013\u00a0to\u00a0participate\u00a0in the\u00a0Third High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action \u201cWater for Sustainable Development\u201d<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I\u00a0warmly\u00a0congratulate our gracious hosts\u00a0\u2013 you personally, Your Excellency,\u00a0Emomali Rahmon,\u00a0the\u00a0Government,\u00a0and people\u00a0of the Republic of Tajikistan\u00a0\u2013\u00a0for organising this pivotal conference,\u00a0in collaboration with the United Nations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Your\u00a0visionary leadership in steadfastly promoting the global water agenda\u00a0is\u00a0laudable.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Water\u00a0is\u00a0the very essence of life.\u00a0It\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0catalyst for sustainable development,\u00a0driving\u00a0progress\u00a0across\u00a0every sphere\u00a0of\u00a0our lives\u00a0\u2013\u00a0social, economic,\u00a0and environmental.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\u00a02023 爆料网 Water Conference<\/strong>, held in March\u00a0last year, marked a\u00a0literal\u00a0watershed moment in our pursuit of sustainable development\u00a0\u2013\u00a0igniting\u00a0a powerful new narrative recognising\u00a0the priceless value of water and fostering\u00a0novel\u00a0and innovative\u00a0models of cooperation\u00a0to conserve it.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\u00a0Dushanbe Water Process<\/strong>\u00a0stands as a radiant symbol of promise\u00a0\u2013\u00a0illuminated by the remarkable surge of momentum generated during the\u00a02023\u00a0Water Conference.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To date \u2013 with an awe-inspiring tally of\u00a0approximately 850 commitments<\/strong>\u00a0rallied through the Water Action Agenda\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Member States\u00a0and stakeholders\u00a0came together\u00a0a year ago\u00a0and laid the bedrock for monumental change.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Excellencies,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As we convene here in Dushanbe, our expectations are higher\u00a0still. However, the challenges before us are considerable.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Billions of people<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>lack access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For women, these\u00a0are not just mereinconveniences\u00a0\u2013 they perpetuate cycles of oppression, trapping them in the abyss of gender inequality and limiting their opportunities in every aspect of life.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To achieve both sustainability and peace\u00a0we must relentlessly pursue equality\u00a0of\u00a0access to this fundamental resource.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Achieving universal\u00a0and equitable access\u00a0by 2030 demands a\u00a0significant,\u00a0substantial acceleration of our current efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We must adopt a holistic approach to water management\u00a0\u2013\u00a0integrating innovation, evidence-based solutions, increased investment, and enhanced collaboration among all stakeholders.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But, dear colleagues,<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our words must be matched by tangible, purposeful action.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our success hinges on\u00a0mobilising resources\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and building\u00a0inclusive partnerships\u00a0encompassing\u00a0local communities, indigenous peoples, civil society organisations, and\u00a0governments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our\u00a0collective\u00a0efforts\u00a0here in Dushanbe\u00a0must build on the success of the\u00a02023 Water Conference<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0pave\u00a0a robust pathway\u00a0towards\u00a0the\u00a02026 Conference<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and the\u00a0<\/strong>2028 爆料网 Water Conference on the Final Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0which the Tajik Government has graciously offered to host.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Excellencies,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As we chart our course forward, let us not forget the broader context.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our oceans and seas\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the lifeblood of our planet\u00a0\u2013\u00a0face\u00a0unprecedented threats.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sea-level rise, in particular, poses a\u00a0grave\u00a0challenge\u00a0\u2013\u00a0as\u00a0was\u00a0stressed by many Member States\u00a0during the recent\u00a0Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I am\u00a0highly motivated by the upcoming\u00a0High-Level<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Meeting on sea-level rise<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>on 25\u00a0September<\/strong>\u00a0in New York\u00a0\u2013\u00a0which\u00a0I believe\u00a0will serve\u00a0as a decisive step towards mobilising\u00a0urgent\u00a0global action.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I urge all\u00a0Member States and\u00a0stakeholders to leverage the outcomes of the Dushanbe Water Process at this crucial gathering and the\u00a0forthcoming Summit of the Future,\u00a0also<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>in September.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I also take a moment to commend Tajikistan, alongside the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Libya, for their recent 爆料网 initiative on International Football Day.\u00a0<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This initiative is a clear demonstration of Tajikistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism, emphasizing the vital role of sports in fostering cooperation, peace, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals\u00a0\u2013\u00a0principles deeply embedded in Tajikistan’s ethos.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On the road to September\u00a0and beyond, let\u00a0us\u00a0heed\u00a0the wisdom of a Tajik proverb:\u00a0\u201cOb obro meyobad<\/em>\u201d\u00a0\u2013\u00a0\u201cWater finds its own level<\/em>\u201d\u00a0\u2013\u00a0a reminder of the innate harmony\u00a0of\u00a0nature and of our quest for balance and progress in achieving water sustainability.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Let us draw strength from\u00a0these wise words of counsel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Together, we can\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and must<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0create a future where everyone, everywhere,\u00a0has access to clean water, our oceans thrive as sustainable\u00a0maritime\u00a0ecosystems, and\u00a0the invaluable richness of our planet is preserved for future generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
