At the outset of the Presidency of H.E. Dennis Francis, he reiterated the importance of the General Assembly prioritising the need to address the peculiar challenges faced by the countries in special situations \u2014 the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small IslandDeveloping States (SIDS) and to accelerate their progress in sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The LDCs represent the poorest and the most vulnerable segment of the Member States; the LLDCs are vulnerable due to their remoteness and lack of access to the sea, essentially limiting access to trading ports and world markets; and the SIDS, also remote from world markets, are deeply impacted by climate change and sea-level rise.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the Board of Advisors to the President of the General Assembly on LDCs, LLDCs and SIDS<\/strong> \u2014 the LLS Advisory Board. \u00a0was re-constituted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    I was pleased to convene the final meeting of the LLS Advisory Board today for the 78th Session.<\/p>\n

    I Appreciate the comprehensive dialogue on how to best support LDCs, LLDCs, and SIDS on their path to sustainable development, including through the High-Level Political Forum and the upcoming Summit of the Future, amongst other events.<\/p>\n

    I thank all the Board members for their valuable contributions throughout the session.<\/p>\n
