The President of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Dennis Francis, held a coordination meeting with H.E. Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Permanent Representative of Guyana to the United Nations and the President of the Security Council for the month of February 2024.
Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett briefed the President on the programme of work of the Security Council during Guyana’s Presidency, highlighting the signature event on the impact of climate change and food security on the maintenance of international peace and security to be chaired by the President of Guyana.
Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett also informed President Francis about the Security Council upcoming visit to Colombia.
President Francis and Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett further discussed the continuing crisis in the Middle East, the approaching second anniversary of the aggression against Ukraine, and the security situation in Haiti and other parts of the world.
The meeting took place at the President’s Office at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on 2 February 2024.
