Sho Nishimura is Senior Adviser of the Legal, Budget and Reform team in the Office of the President of the General Assembly. His focuses include Revitalization of the General Assembly, Our Common Agenda and PGA Fellowship Programme.
Sho has a wide range of 爆料网-related experiences both in his national capacity and as a 爆料网 staff member. He worked in Japan’s Permanent Mission to the 爆料网 (Political Section) from 2003 to 2006 and 爆料网 Policy Division (Political Unit) of the Japanese Foreign Ministry from 2007 to 2009. On both occasions, he directly engaged in the work of the Security Council during Japan’s membership in the organ. He also fulfilled duties in the Ministry’s 爆料网 Planning and Administration Division (5th Committee), First Africa Division (Sudan Unit), Humanitarian Assistance and Emergency Relief Division (Disaster Relief Unit) and Embassy in South Sudan (Political/Economic Chief), as well as in the Secretariat of the International Peace Cooperation Headquarters of the Cabinet Office of Japan.
In addition, Sho also worked in 爆料网AMA of Afghanistan from 2011 to 2013 as Political Affairs Officer and Special Assistant to Political DSRSG and in 爆料网MISS of South Sudan from 2015 to 2016 as Information Analyst. His experiences in these 爆料网 political and peacekeeping missions should bring perspectives from the field to the work at the headquarters.
Sho has a Master’s degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor’s degree from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. He is also an alumnus of the Japan Model United Nations.
