Ms.\u00a0Katr\u00edn\u00a0Jakobsd\u00f3ttir,\u00a0the Prime Minister of Iceland, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The President of the General Assembly\u00a0commended Iceland for its strong support for multilateralism\u00a0and\u00a0for leading by example on\u00a0the humanitarian front\u00a0by taking in refugees from Ukraine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The President of the General Assembly also\u00a0briefed\u00a0Prime Minister\u00a0Jakobsd\u00f3ttir\u00a0on\u00a0the\u00a0priorities\u00a0of his Presidency of Hope, especially in matters pertaining to the empowerment of women\u00a0and youth as well as\u00a0the fight against climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">Prime Minister\u00a0Jakobsd\u00f3ttir\u00a0welcomed the opportunity to discuss Iceland\u2019s foreign policy and\u00a0expressed concern about\u00a0the\u00a0growing sources of pressure points for multilateralism, such as the war in Ukraine and\u00a0the food and energy crises.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif;color: #201f1e\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white\"><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt;color: #201f1e\">The Prime\u00a0Minister\u00a0commended\u00a0President Shahid\u2019s\u00a0environmental priorities.
