Background<\/h1>\n

The election of the President of the seventy-seventh session of the General Assembly was held on 7 June 2022 in the General Assembly Hall, in line with\u00a0<\/span>Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure<\/b><\/a>. H.E. Mr Csaba\u00a0K\u0151r\u00f6si was elected by acclamation.<\/p>\n

In accordance with the established regional rotation, the President of the seventy-seventh session of the General Assembly is to be elected from the Group of Eastern European States.<\/p>\n

In its resolution 71\/323<\/a>, entitled \u201cRevitalization of the work of the General Assembly\u201d, the Assembly decided to call upon candidates for the position of President of the General Assembly to present their vision statements, and to conduct informal interactive dialogues with Member States, thus contributing to the transparency and inclusivity of the process.<\/p>\n

To allow for adequate time between the informal interactive dialogue and the election, the President of the seventy-sixth session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid,\u00a0convened\u00a0the informal interactive dialogue mandated in resolution 71\/323,\u00a0 on 5 May 2022,\u00a0 at 10:00 a.m., in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. The\u00a0video recordings\u00a0of the informal interactive dialogue can be\u00a0viewed\u00a0on \u00a0±¬ÁÏÍø WebTV<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Civil society representatives and individuals\u00a0were\u00a0invited to submit their questions to the candidate for the position of President of the seventy-seventh session of the General Assembly to be answered during the interactive dialogue. Questions were collected via an online form and\u00a0were\u00a0asked in-person and via pre-recorded videos.<\/p>\n
