PRESIDENT OF THE ±¬ÁÏÍø GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO TRAVEL TO FIJI<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
The President of the ±¬ÁÏÍø General Assembly, H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande will undertake an official visit to Fiji from Thursday, 5 March until Sunday, 8 March.<\/p>\n
During the visit, the President is expected to meet with high-level government officials, as well as engage with ±¬ÁÏÍø System and development partners in the region.<\/p>\n
To gain an in-depth insight of ±¬ÁÏÍø activities in Fiji and the Pacific, the PGA will meet with the ±¬ÁÏÍø Country Team and visit several ±¬ÁÏÍø-supported programs during his stay. He will visit ±¬ÁÏÍø Women\u2019s Markets4Change Project as well as pay a visit to ±¬ÁÏÍøICEF-supported Fiji School for the Blind. He will also engage with local communities impacted by climate change, mainly through visits to ±¬ÁÏÍøDP\u2019s \u201cRidge to Reef\u201d project in Vusama Village, as well as ±¬ÁÏÍø Habitat\u2019s programme at Vunato Village.<\/p>\n
Throughout his stay, the PGA will meet host government officials, including H.E. Jioji Konrote President of Fiji, H.E. Mereseini Vuniwaqa, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation. The President of the General Assembly will also meet Fiji\u2019s Acting Prime Minister.<\/p>\n
In addition, the PGA will engage in a ±¬ÁÏÍø@75 dialogue with students at the University of the South Pacific, as well as give a press conference to local media.<\/p>\n
The President will be accompanied by his Deputy Chef de Cabinet Jerobeam Shaanika; Adviser Nehali Anupriya; Special Assistant Faisal Mohammed Ibrahim; Senior Communication Adviser Nevena Toaso; Administrative Assistant Evelyne Ojwang.<\/p>\n
H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande and members of his delegation will depart Fiji on Sunday, March 8 2020.<\/p>\n
Travel costs will be covered through the Trust Fund of the Office of the President of the General Assembly.<\/p>\n
