Perm\u00edtanme comenzar expresando mi profundo agradecimiento a la Presidenta del ECOSOC, con quien hemos trabajado de manera conjunta y coordinada para los preparativos de este Foro Pol\u00edtico y de la pr\u00f3xima Cumbre los ODS.<\/p>\n
Quisiera felicitar tambi\u00e9n a los 47 Estados Miembros que presentar\u00e1n sus Revisiones Nacionales Voluntarias y a aquellos Estados que lo han hecho en el pasado.<\/p>\n
La credibilidad del sistema multilateral \u2013y las esperanzas de los 7.7 mil millones de habitantes del mundo\u2013 est\u00e1n, en gran medida, en la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible.<\/p>\n
Alcanzar los ODS ser\u00e1 definitivamente la mejor forma de demostrar que juntos somos capaces de transformar la vida de las personas.<\/p>\n
Excelencias,<\/p>\n
Nos aproximamos a la \u201cd\u00e9cada de la implementaci\u00f3n\u201d con visibles logros en \u00e1reas claves como la reducci\u00f3n de la pobreza extrema, la mortalidad infantil y el acceso a la educaci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, si queremos verdaderamente alcanzar nuestro prop\u00f3sito de no dejar a nadie atr\u00e1s, debemos hacer mucho m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n
Esto significa que debemos enfocarnos en los desaf\u00edos y en las m\u00faltiples asimetr\u00edas que persisten. El \u00edndice de Pobreza Multidimensional 2019 del PNUD ilustra que la pobreza y la desigualdad est\u00e1n presentes en todas las regiones con mil trecientos millones de personas pobres por m\u00faltiples carencias. Por eso necesitamos que las pol\u00edticas que establecemos den cuenta de todas esas dimensiones.<\/p>\n
Contamos con solo 11 a\u00f1os para evitar los impactos devastadores del cambio clim\u00e1tico en la vida y el futuro de las personas y el planeta. No podemos perder el impulso, pero tampoco podemos continuar por el mismo rumbo.<\/p>\n
El Informe de Progreso sobre los ODS y el Informe Mundial de Desarrollo Sostenible – as\u00ed como el Informe Especial del Panel Intergubernamental sobre Cambio Clim\u00e1tico y el del PNUMA sobre la Brecha de Emisiones- coinciden en la necesidad y urgencia de acelerar la acci\u00f3n y ampliar su impacto.<\/p>\n

Throughout my presidency, I have worked with Member States to ensure that the activities of the 73rd<\/sup> session are more than the sum of their parts: that they all contribute to the 2030 Agenda, including the preparations for this HLPF and the SDG Summit in September.<\/p>\nThat has been the overarching vision and the driving force behind the seven priorities set out for this session. And they have produced common themes, including:<\/p>\n
