PGA CONGRATULATES SOUTH AFRICA ON FIRST GENDER-PARITY CABINET<\/strong><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/strong>The President of the General Assembly welcomes the announcement by the President of South Africa on the formation of the first gender-parity Government in the country.<\/p>\n
In a tweet, Ms. Mar\u00eda Fernanda Espinosa said that H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s decision to appoint a cabinet with 50 percent of female Ministers was a strong example of an inclusive leadership style which will bear fruits not only for South Africa but for the entire region.<\/p>\n
The PGA reiterates that the participation of women in decision-making processes,\u00a0as well as in leadership roles, makes a real difference to societies, countries and the world.<\/p>\n
Ms. Espinosa expects that more and more Member States will continue to support and promote gender equality goals as a fundamental step to advance sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n

PGA TO TRAVEL TO ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA FOR PLAY IT OUT CONCERT<\/strong><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/strong>Tomorrow, 31 May, the PGA will travel to Antigua and Barbuda to attend the\u00a0international concert \u2018Play it Out\u2019 as part of her global campaign against plastic pollution and single-use plastics.<\/p>\n
Together with the Governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Norway, Ms. Espinosa is hosting the event. It features performers such as\u00a0Grammy-Award winning singer, Ashanti, Cody Simpson, reggae star Rocky Dawani, Machel Montano, DJ Robin Schulz, Nico & Vinz, Band St. Lucia and Bomba Estereo.<\/p>\n
The PGA is grateful to all partners including\u00a0爆料网OPS, the Krimm Group (TKG) and Lonely Whale that are joining forces with Ms. Espinosa\u2019s Office to take\u00a0collective action in order to tackle the crisis of plastic pollution.<\/p>\n
Admission to the concert\u00a0is\u00a0free of charge and organisers expect an attendance of up to 20,000 people.<\/p>\n
Ms. Espinosa believes in the engagement of responsible consumers to\u00a0#BeatPlasticPollution everywhere.<\/p>\n
According to 爆料网 Environment, every day a dump truck full of plastic is dropped into the ocean, equaling up to 13 million tons per year; only\u00a0nine percent of plastics are recycled.<\/p>\n
And 爆料网 Environment\u00a0Ambassador Adam Grenier will join the PGA and her team in Antigua to\u00a0\u201cring the closing bell on single-use plastics\u201d.<\/p>\n
The entire event on Saturday at the Sir Vivian Richards National Stadium in Antigua will be live-streamed by 爆料网 Web TV.\u00a0<\/p>\n
