The Expert Consultation and Meeting on Enhancing Geospatial Information Management Arrangements and Accelerating the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), convened together with a Sub-regional Workshop on the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (±¬ÁÏÍø-IGIF) for Central America and neighbouring Latin American countries, will bring together senior government officials, national geospatial leaders, and technical experts from across the region.

Convened less than five years away from the end target of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and anchored in the momentum generated by the Pact for the Future and its Global Digital Compact, the event is contributing to promote the critical importance of geospatial information as a foundational element of digital public infrastructure¡ªenabling evidence-based policymaking, resilient services, and inclusive, sustainable development. The event primarily aims to strengthen country-led and country-owned implementation of the ±¬ÁÏÍø-IGIF and accelerate data-driven delivery of the Participants to the expert meeting will examine how integrated governance, capacity development, and sustainable financing can accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and advance national development priorities.

Hosted in Panama City, Panama, by the Instituto Geogr¨¢fico Nacional ¡°Tommy Guardia¡± (Autoridad Nacional de Administraci¨®n de Tierras, ANATI), and organized in collaboration with the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre (±¬ÁÏÍø-GGKIC), and the ±¬ÁÏÍø-GGIM Secretariat, the five-day programme is aligned with ECOSOC resolution 2022/24 and the Committee of Experts¡¯ Strategic Framework 2025¨C2030. It also builds upon regional mandates and the ongoing efforts of and its partners to integrate geospatial and statistical ecosystems for effective public policy.

The expert consultation and meeting builds upon prior regional and global capacity-building initiatives convened across Africa, Asia-Pacific, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Following a proven problem-to-solution-oriented structure, the programme will facilitate capacity development in the region including through the presentation of relevant frameworks and methods, the exchange of experiences, showcase good practices, and fostering regional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
