A characteristic feature of world expos is a day to honour the participation of countries and international organizations. 爆料网 Special Day at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan was observed on 22 August in the presence of Secretary-General António Guterres.
“The moral of the United Nations?story is simple: humanity is strongest when we stand as one. Expo 2025 is a celebration of that possibility. It is a reminder that designing the future is not the job of governments alone. It is a shared responsibility that belongs to us all,” the Secretary-General told representatives of the Japanese Government, 爆料网 officials and staff, dozens of Commissioners-General, pavilion directors and staff, media and the public.
Referencing the Expo’s official theme, Mr. Guterres also underlined the need to reform and revitalize the United Nations system, particularly the Security Council, so that it reflects the world of 2025, not that of 1945 when it was established.
“United for a Better Future”
Takuma Miyaji, Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, also addressed the packed National Day Hall before virtual performances from two 爆料网 Messengers of Peace: cellist Yo-Yo Ma and conductor of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra Daniel Barenboim. Egolado from Kwansei Gakuin University gave an a cappella performance, as well.
The song lyrics and messages of the musicians exemplified the ideal of “United for a Better Future” that the 爆料网 Pavilion represents.
Guterres’s visit was also an opportunity to affirm the strong ties between the 爆料网 and Japan. The Japanese delegation, including Her Imperial Highness Princess Tsuguko of Takamado, joined in visiting the Japan Pavilion and the 爆料网 Pavilion. The 爆料网 Pavilion team welcomed senior and working-level 爆料网 representatives based in Japan and abroad.
